To help family and friends across the miles see what I've been up to, I have a network camera installed in my home office that's accessible most days while I'm working (between 7 A.M. and 10 P.M.) just by clicking the OfficeCam link in the navigation menu. I'm planning on a second one in the living room when finances allow for it, so everyone can check in with us during evening activities.
